Floris Meijer (1989) has been crazy about sports from a very early age. He went on to study the Leaders in Sport programme at the prestigious Dutch CIOS Institute in Arnhem. For years, he was a skiing instructor in Austria and took part in many international skiing championships, winning numerous prizes.
Until a freestyle skiing accident in 2012. A disastrous landing from a ski jump led to Floris suffering a major spinal cord injury, which left him a paraplegic.

Getting ready for the 2022 Paralympics

Floris is currently training intensively at Papendal Olympic Training Centre. He also trains in the Alps. His focus is on the Slalom and the Giant slalom, Super G, Downhill and Super-Combined events.

One goal!
He has set his sight on just one goal… to qualify for the 2022 Beijing Paralympics!

The strength of a true sportsman

His passion for the mountains and determination to ski again have helped Floris overcome all the challenges and through this difficult period. Just over a year after his accident, he was back on the slopes! Only now, in a sit-ski.
